those lil brackety things are called gooseneck threaded table mounts.. but for some reason they are so hard to find in the uk!

The SM57 is a percussion mic, made specifically to pick up, musical sounds, whereas the SM58 is a vocal mic made for singing of course. The thing is people experimented with the 58 in their dhols and for kits n stuff and prefered the sound my guess is because the frequencies of which it pick up spread across a large range (to pick up someon who sings in a real deep voice and a real high pitch voice) so it covers the whole spectrum init. Eitherway both sound top, ill be honest ive heard both of them live and didnt really notice the difference.

i use the 57 but only because i prefer the look of the mic to the 58 LoL. Another thing to if you do get these mics, the lil clip/stands that come with them are pretty shitty. but you can get rubber ones and the mics never slip out, worth it!

I done a gig once and my mic slipped out and was resting against my treble ! Noooooooooo!

oh yeah one more thing the SM57 is the same Mic President Bush uses to make his announcements...

stupid init, you wouldve thought he used the SM58?

I recon the Sm57/58 are VERY similar, the biggest difference if proberly the shape, the 58 looks more like a mic you can hold and sing into i guess

kidha =p

u gta clip and a bolt which can scew into the clip? sould come with the mic l0l

u need 2 holes
one near the treble side and one in the middle

^ ^......................................^^
(hehe)

dril out an hole near the treble side so that the xlr lead can fit in (i used a 19mm dril bit to cut hole)
dril anova hole in the middle so that the bolt can screw in

screw in the bolt, get ur mic nd clip it and place it inside ur dhol and screw it into the bolt (now ur mic should be secure and not move)
use a spanna to tighten the bolt

place the xlr lead into the dhol and attach it to the mic

and screw in the mount connecter <-that lol in place

(inside the dhol)

ohh i see i see.. camera tricks n that!

mic's are always importnat to play, but they do sound great, you can put less focus on your power and more into your intricacy,

and if anyone has played with a band, then its a must aswel
