I wouldn't worry about what it looks like, more importantly is how it sounds
Most shell's aren't too bad, i think you should just let your buyer be cautious on any defects,
Kaali taali, again, this is not going to benefit the way the dhol sounds, any hard wood that's treated well does the job
Having a straight dhol gives it a more hard sound, but again that isn't important when it comes to having a good dhol
the most important element of a dhol is the skins.
