yo was up dholis? well i got this sick ass dhol from india about a few weeks ago rite. its a i think kali talli but definately a talli. and its a beautiful dhol but wen i tune the tilli side i notice that under the bolts it was starting to crack alittle. but im still not gettin the pitch i want u know wat i mean. idk how should i tune this dhol ? or idk if the wood is weak. but lemme know dholis

well from what u stated, it seems to be the wood under the bolts is crackin which means that the bolt was probably tightened a bit much. try loosening the actual bolt (remove the hook first obviously) and just tune it. i have cracks above my bolt but it is very minor and it doesnt affect the sound. sounds pretty bangin if i do say so myself ;]

thanks for respondin bro. but yea i checked everything again. i tightened the washers inside the dhol hella lot tighter. cuz everytime i would tune it would start pulling on the screw taht were in the dhol and i think that is wat cracked the wood. but rite now its pretty striaght. i tried to loosen it but the pitch wud sound not so good. but im tighting it slowly cuz i want that crispy ring to it cuz that sounds maddd brooo
