After years of speculation and hype Apple deliver a slice of do-it-all gadgetry that surpasses all expectations.

There were cheers, tears and gasps of wonder as Steve Jobs finally made the announcement we've all been waiting for – the iPhone is here, and boy, does it mean business.

Promised to be 'five years ahead of anything' that's on the market right now, Apple's iconic new gadget combines a phone, a widescreen iPod and an ultramobile PC running OSX.

The iPhone runs a revolutionary user interface called 'multitouch' – a touchscreen utilising multiple gestures, and it's promised to be every bit as as iconic as the clickwheel. Sensors let you glide through albums and photos, zoom in and out and automatically disable the screen when close to your face. 

It's also claimed that it will be capable of five hours video or web browsing, or 16 hours of audio playback. At an amazingly svelte 11.6mm, the touchscreen is 3.5 inches, it also packs a 2-megapixel camera, 8GB of storage, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi.

Although available in June in the States, Apple fans this side of the Atlantic will have to wait until Q4 for a British release.
