DJ Tally is an artist that is currently unknown in the
Asian music scene, but possesses real potential to become a household name in
the very near future. Having already become a seasoned professional Roadshow DJ
at the tender age of 19, he has now ventured into production with his first
collaboration utilising the universally acclaimed vocalist Nirmal Sidhu.
His debut single, entitled Nakhrah, releases on Silverbak
Records, and promises to establish his name on the UK Bhangra scene that is
currently in need of fresh young talent. Having learnt the art of playing the
Dhol and Tabla at an early age and then moving on and studying music production
under his mentor Notorious JATT, DJ Tally shows his solid production skills in
his first outing.
As a UK born 4th generation Punjabi, DJ Tally draws
inspiration from artists coming from many diverse genres including UK Bhangra,
Punjabi Folk, Dancehall, Drum & Bass, Bassline and RnB.
Artists whose work he especially looks up to include
Harjit Harman, Surjit Bindrakhia, Baljit Malwa, Mickey Finn, Buju Banton and
Quincy Jones.
Nakhrah features the explosive vocals of Nirmal Sidhu
along with rap from the UK Hip Hop outfit C.O.V (Hoi Hoi, Mere Naseeb, What’s
Ma Name). The single is accompanied by a high quality HD video directed by Guvy
Heer.
Nakhrah will be officially released worldwide on 26th
February 2010 as an exclusive iTunes release, and will hopefully be the first
of many great productions from this fresh new talent.
Remember the name DJ Tally because with a debut single
showing such talent and potential, one sense’s he can only go from strength to
strength in the future as an ambassador for Punjabi music…
