Materazzi reveals … Italian defender, Marco Materazzi has finally revealed that an insult involving Zinedine Zidane's sister provoked the Frenchman to head-butt him during the World Cup final.
Zidane was sent off for the attack and later claimed he was irritated after Materazzi had insulted his mother. However, both players had revealed completely different stories which lead to the horrific incident which shocked the media and the billion’s of football fan’s around the world viewing the world cup final. However, Matwerazzi cleared speculation by revealing the truth to Gazzetta dello Sport ( Italian sports magazine) that Zidane's sister was the subject. He said: "I was tugging his shirt, he said to me 'if you want my shirt so much I'll give it to you afterwards,' I answered that I'd prefer his sister." Materazzi added: "It's not a particularly nice thing to say, I recognise that. But loads of players say worse things. "I didn't even know he had a sister before all this happened." Fiffa took drastic action immediately at heavily fined both players and banned them from the next three international matches. Although the truth has now been told, both player’s have not apologized to each other!
The 2006 Fiffa world cup final will be remembered for the wrong reasons instead of the football!
